Alexis II Calls to Unit for the Dialogue of Civilization

The Moscow and All-Russia Patriarch Alexis II called all the states and peoples of the World to unit efforts to avoid the conflicts of civilizations.

“I’m sure that all the states of the orthodox World and all the states and peoples of the World must unit their efforts for the moral rebirth of their societies to avoid the conflict of civilizations, to establish a dialogue between them”, - said the Patriarch during the Easter state reception in Russian Foreign Ministry premises.

According to Alexis II Russian Orthodox Church tries to do its best to help such cooperation especially during the Russian presidency in G8 and the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. “Together with the Russian Inter-religious Council we claimed an initiative to conduct in July the World summit of the religious leaders of the World”, - he stressed.

”It is a good sign that the Easter meetings of the state and civil representatives, Russian and foreign diplomats, the representatives of the biggest religious communities under the hospitable shelter of Russian Foreign Ministry became a good tradition” – said the Patriarch. He added that this is an evidence of Russian returning to the immateriality and culture which was also close to orthodox traditions.

The reception was attended by the representatives of Orthodox churches of the foreign states, ambassadors in Russia, State Duma officials, prime Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Old Belieg Church metropolitan Kornilius, the Chief Rabbi of Russia Adolf Shaevitch, the Executive Director of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia Valery Engel, Head of the Russian Union of Gospel Christians Bishop Serguei Riakhovsky, the Pope Ambassador in Russia Antonio Mennini and the representatives of other confessions.
