The Energy Ministers of G8 states will discuss issues of the global energy security – Victor Khristenko


According to Russian Minister of Industry and Energy Viktor Khristenko, the G8 energy ministers will meet in Moscow on the 16th of March. They will discuss most important issues of the world energy policy and the problems of global energy security, the issue included as a priority to the next G8 summit agenda in St Petersburg. .
The energy ministers from India, China, Brazil, South Africa and European nion are also invited to participate in the meeting.
The participants will discuss also the issues of new and renewable energy sources, energetic innovations and the development of the safe nuclear energy.
According to Victor Khristenko, one of the important issues to discuss will be ecological restrictions and the security measures within the framework of the program of providing energy resources for the world economy.
“It will be no game, no competition during the meeting, - said Victor Khristenko. – It is impossible to say that someone can win and another will lose. We are trying to work out useful measures for the interests of the humankind, so we all have a common chance to win or to lose”.
The participants will probably touch upon the problem of Iran. As Victor Khristenko mentioned, there are another formats to discuss and solve this problem, but during the energy meeting this issue can be discuss as a possible risk of nuclear energy development.
“The analysis of such situations will allow us to better understand possible risks and to find mechanisms to overpass them, - he said. – It is very important for general understanding of the nuclear energy prospects”.
Russian energy minister also proposed to invite some states – non-members of G8 – to the dialogue about the world oil market. “It is not correct to conduct such a dialogue without such states as India, China and the OPEC countries”, - he added.
