NewsJapan considers the topic of Energy Security, suggested by Russia for 2006 year G8 Summit, very important.According to the Japan foreign Vice Minister, Kiohiko Toyama, who will represent Japan at the G8 ministers meeting on energy questions this Thursday, Japan considers that the question of global energy security raised by Russia this year is very important. Among the main reasons he mentioned “steep oil prices” and “fast economical development in Asia, most of all in China and India, which leads to the growth of the demand for the energy carriers”. He also added that “The integration of the global energy market is still an on-going process after the end of the cold war. The discussion of the rules according to which the countries suppliers should manage the energy resources is of the same importance for the countries, who buy energy, like Japan”. He said that in Moscow Japanese representatives are going to “arrange more effective international conditions to secure steady energy supply”. It also means «the proper climate for investments”. Japan will also suggest discussing the question of the energy consumption efficiency factor? That will show how much energy is spent per one unit of the Gross Domestic Product. As vice minister explained, in Japan this factor is the best of all out of the G8 countries, it comes to 1, while in China and India to 9,62? In Russia – 19,72. It means that to produce the same amount of the GDP Japan spend 20 times less energy than Russia. Toyama said: “This factor used to be bad but we applied all of our efforts to lower it. We tend to share this experience and developed technologies with other countries and appeal to them improve their energy consumption factors”. At the coming meeting Japan will be represented by the delegation from the Economy and Industry Ministries, led by the vice minister Akira Nisino. |
